Based in Southern California, Verdezyne has assembled a top team of scientists from the biotechnology and chemicals industries who are reducing dependence on oil by changing the way chemicals are made. Our proprietary technology uses fermentation followed by unique separation techniques. The yeast used in Verdezyne's process is specifically designed to produce chemicals and additives that are used in everyday products and applications. Our proprietary yeast, combined with proven manufacturing technology, produces a broad range of building blocks used in nylons, plastics, and corrosion inhibitors. We have also produced a number of high-value terpene molecules, including the carotenoids beta-carotene, lycopene, astaxanthin, and lutein, which have applications for nutraceuticals and personal care products.

Since 2008, Verdezyne has been designing yeast for the production of renewable chemicals. By 2010, the Company developed the fermentation technology and proof of concept for adipic acid and dodecanedioic acid (DDDA). In 2011, Verdezyne opened the doors to our first pilot plant, and by 2012 we had created the world’s first renewable nylon fiber. 2014 was the turning point for Verdezyne, as we produced more than one metric ton of DDDA, confirming the scalability of our process. We plan to break ground on the first biobased DDDA plant in Malaysia by year-end 2017.
